Jharkhand Governor and Chancellor of State Universities, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, on Tuesday addressed the fifth graduation ceremony of Marwari College, Ranchi, urging students to view their academic degrees not merely as qualifications but as the beginning of lifelong responsibility.

Speaking at the Vivekananda Auditorium, Gangwar congratulated the graduating students, their parents, and the college community, describing the convocation as a moment of collective pride and reflection. “Degrees are not just certificates—they represent discipline, perseverance, and commitment. They mark the beginning of a new chapter,” he said.

He encouraged students to treat education as more than a means to employment, and to instead use knowledge as a force for positive change in society. India, he said, with its diversity and immense potential, needs the innovation, ideas, and sensitivity of its youth more than ever.

Referring to India’s emergence as the world’s fourth-largest economy, Gangwar emphasised the importance of youth in achieving the nation’s vision of becoming a developed country by 2047. He expressed confidence that Marwari College graduates would contribute meaningfully across sectors—science, arts, education, public service, entrepreneurship, and social work.

Reiterating his commitment to raising academic standards in the state, the Governor said he had attended convocations across Jharkhand over the past year and interacted directly with students. He expressed particular satisfaction in witnessing the enthusiasm and academic excellence of students from rural and remote backgrounds.

Gangwar noted the increasing number of gold medals being awarded to female students, calling it a reflection of a transforming India—one where women are emerging as leaders across disciplines.

He concluded by urging students to move ahead with confidence, humility, and a spirit of service. “In life, not just degrees but direction and vision matter. If you pursue your goals with sincerity and resolve, success will follow,” he said.
